Why is communication so important?
Communication is a key factor within any workplace, if you don't communicate then wires will become crossed causing an unproductive workplace, which I'm sure the majority of people would like to avoid.
Although the concept of communicating is easy, communicating well and in different forms takes skill and practice to master, and even then, there is always room for improvement. Different members of your team will need and prefer different kinds of communication depending on what works for them, the same goes for you so you must be adaptable when it comes to communication.
What makes a good communicator?
Active listening - Essential for effective communication, allowing you to demonstrate how the other person wishes for you to communicate with them.
Make it personal - Creating a personal communication style will show the other person that you have carefully considered how what you are communicating will affect them personally.
Be clear & specific - Good communicators cut to the chase clearly communicating what they wish showing respect for people’s time and choosing simple, straightforward words to avoid confusion.
Ask questions – Skilled communicators ask good questions to show genuine interest and to clarify their understanding of what the other person is trying to communicate with them.
